The Spider Farmer SF4000 LED grow light is a solid performer and great value for its specification, especially considering the high quality components such as Meanwell drivers and Samsung LM301b LEDs. It is full spectrum, good efficiency and delivers a good light spread over the 4ft x 4ft or 120cm x 120cm grow space it is designed for.
Spider Farmer have moved on from making 'blurple' LED grow lights with this new SF series of LED grow lights. It is a very welcome change and I am happy to see no more of the noisy box fan LEDs emitting purple light. The Spider Farmer SF4000 is a 440 watt LED grow light suitable for a 4ft x 4ft (120cm x 120cm) space. It has all the features you would want including:
- Good Efficiency with Samsung LM301b LEDs
- High quality LED driver by Meanwell
- Full spectrum (grow from seed to harvest)
- Daisy chain control
- On board dimming from 5% to 100% output
Recommended Coverage: 4ft x 4ft (1.2m x 1.2m)
At 438 watts the SF4000 is specified for a 4ft x 4ft or 1.2m x 1.2m grow area.
The fixture is very high quality in construction, easy to setup and hang and has on board dimming.
LEDs and Spectrum output
The Spider Farmer uses cool white 5000K and warm white 3000K LEDs as well as 660nm reds and far red LEDs to deliver a balanced Full spectrum designed for full cycle growing from seed to harvest
MIGRO Test results
The power consumed at the wall was 438 watts and the average PAR of 644 µmols/m²/sec in a 4ft x 4ft (1.2m x 1.2m) grow area means the Spider Farmer SF4000 has a real world system efficiency of 2.06 µmols/watt (usable PPF/watt). A very good result for a grow light in this price range.
Value for money
The Spider Farmer is excellent value for money considering its build quality and performance.

Spiderfarmer do not use branded parts in their new models they replaced the mean well driver and other parts with cheap unbranded ones. Its a cash grab
