Increase yields with Intra canopy grow lights

Intra canopy grow lighting allows growers to increase the yield from a grow space and improve the quality of the flowers at harvest time. 

Intra canopy, under canopy and side lighting grow lights are the same

Keeping your top light in place you can add intra canopy lighting to the side of the grow area (side lighting) or underneath the canopy facing upwards (under canopy lighting). The same intra canopy grow light can be used for side lighting or under canopy lighting.

Grow at least 50% more with Intra canopy grow lights

Growers will typically have top lighting with wattages of about 30 watts per square foot or 350 watts per square meter. This will deliver an average PAR of about 900 µmols/m²/second.  Studies show that you can add about 50% more wattage and PAR with intra canopy lighting and yields will increase proportionately. Additionally many of the smaller 'popcorn' buds in the lower parts of the plants increase is size and improve the overall quality of the yield.

Tips for adding intra-canopy or under canopy grow lights

• Make sure the grow light is rated for a damp environment, minimum of IP54 rated. Condensation will drip onto the light fixtures from the plants.
• The LEDs should be covered and sealed. If dirt or moisture sits directly on the LEDS it will damage them and possibly cause a fire.
• It is better if the LED driver in not in the light fixture but located remotely. The LED driver outputs a lot of heat which will increase the temperature in your canopy effecting the final quality of your harvest.
• You can add the intra-canopy lighting underneath facing up or at the side facing inwards. Just keep buds and leaves a minimum of 3" or 7.5cm away from the light as the light stress will damage them.
